Indian Cent gurus - anyone have a picture of an 1897 "small 1 in neck"?

I wasn't aware until I went to Rick Snow's variety research page but apparently there is more than one variety of 1897 Indian cent with the date punched in the neck? The variety is not shown on Rick's site, does anyone have an example they can post to the thread? I've actually got a coin on my radar which looks a little like the Snow-1 MPD variety but it is not nearly as strong, I'm very curious if I've stumbled across an example of the second variety.

Many thanks in advance,
Sean Reynolds

Thanks, but that coin is the commonly known variety Snow-1, MPD-001. Rick lists a second variety as Snow-14, MPD-002, "small 1 in neck", that's the one I'm trying to get a look at.

Wes, that is also snow 1. Here's one auction that looks similar but the extra digit is not nearly as strong... or it's just my eyes playing tricksand seeing patterns in the nicks and scratches that aren't there.

The S14 has a very small protrusion just above the pearl. If you find one, I need a close-up image for the book. Marv Erickson owns the only one seen but didn't forward the coin to me to photograph in time for the book.

Over the Mint's long history there have been outbursts of varieties whenever the Chief Engraver died and a replacement was hired (1823-24, 1844, 1869), and it sure would be fun to see the Mint's complete employment records to see whenever a new assistant engraver was turned loose with a set of date punches and a hammer.
